Harry Potter was one of the largest phenomenons the world has ever seen, and now kids that grew up reading Harry Potter are in college, earning non-magical degrees and playing Quidditch on the side.

In case you haven’t realized it yet, that is, in case you’ve been living in a dark tunnel with no access to any kind of media whatsoever, then you know that anything you post online is permanent. Every picture is there for eternity.

On campus there sits a vending machine that will pop out one pill to whomever can fork over the cash. If a student had unprotected sex, forgot their normal form of contraceptive or was assaulted, they are given unfettered access to the “morning after pill”.

During a campout with some students from the church, a youth pastor allowed a thirteen-year-old student to drive his SUV.  The young man crashed the SUV and was thrown out of the driver’s side door. The car then fell on top of the young man, eventually killing him.

There is a young girl who has been nicknamed Rapunzel by her classmates. She does not live in a tower. She has not been kidnapped by an evil witch and her hair does not possess healing powers. What she does have, however, is hair that has never been cut.

Police cars showing up at elementary schools seems to be making headlines more and more. Recently a six-year-old was taken into police custody after kicking his principal and becoming increasingly out of control.

It seems that the word “sexting” is now common place in the vocabulary of teens. Perhaps this is why officials feel that you cannot over-talk about sexting to teenagers. The negative ramifications for teenagers are endless.

No one ever imagined the television set declining in importance but recent data from the Nielsen group, a company that follows media use, is showing that younger Americans are slowly moving away from the tube.
